Durable Goods Design is an informal collaboration between husband-and-wife team Dan O. Williams and Frances Duncan, based in the little mill town of North Adams*, Massachusetts.
We specialize in strategy, design, and project management for web, print, and emerging hybrids. We like to make things — real things, good things. If you have something you need built to last, tell us about it. We’d love to help.
What We Do
Mostly digital. Sometimes print.
We create simple, beautiful, hand-crafted websites and publications. Our focus is on straightforward solutions to complex problems of information organization and design.
Services
- Website design. We’ll design website interfaces and HTML/CSS templates based on web standards.
- Website redesign. We’ll redesign and retemplate your existing site for a fresh new look, and a more device agnostic design.
- Consulting. We’ll work with your company to strategize your web presence, organize your site, streamline interaction experience, clean up your code, or help you craft compelling content that gets you found.
- Publication design. We’ll assist in the conception of a publication, design it from scratch, or art–direct its production — online or off.
- Brand development. We’ll develop your brand and create materials that support its point of view and place in the market.
- Illustration. We’ll create original, whimsical illustrations, informational graphics, or maps for your publication or website.
We do other stuff, too. Just ask us.

Who We Are
Meet Frances and Dano.
Frances Duncan is the main client liaison and resident web designer, with over ten years of experience designing, managing, and launching web projects. In addition to her work with Durable Goods, she occasionally teaches web design and development at MCLA and blogs about local food at Plate to Plate.
Dano Williams provides fifteen years of print and publications design and production expertise and illustration and brand development chops. In addition to his work with Durable Goods, Dano is a digital projects manager at Storey Publishing, bakes sourdough bread from scratch on a weekly basis, and, if he’s lucky, sometimes earns a round of beer at the local trivia night.
We occasionally partner with creatives and technologists here in Berkshire County and across the U.S. to help us produce expert work.
